# Compare & Chart

Plot swap rates, government bond yields, benchmark fixings and forward curves on one chart, and download the series to Excel.

**Compare & Chart** puts historical swap rates, government bond yields, benchmark rates and forward curves on one chart, so you can compare them and download the data to Excel. Open it from the sidebar under **Market Data → Compare & Chart**.

***

### 1. Start from the Default Chart

The **Historical & Forward Data** chart opens with three series: **10Y SONIA Swap**, **10Y 6M EURIBOR Swap** and **10Y SOFR Swap**. Add to them, or click **Clear selections** to start from an empty chart.

### 2. Add Series

Click the search box under **Add new** (**Search forward curves, swap rates, bonds or benchmarks**) and type an index, currency, country or tenor. Results are grouped by type:

| Group | What you pick | Example series name |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| **Swap Rates** | An index, then a tenor. Three tenors show at first; **More** lists the rest | **5Y SOFR Swap** |
| **Government Bonds** | A country, then a tenor. **More** lists further tenors | **10Y Germany Gov Bond** |
| **Forward Curves** | An index. The chart shows its current forward curve | **SONIA Forward Curve** |
| **Benchmark Rates**  | A published fixing                                                          | The fixing's name        |

Each pick adds a line to the chart, named as in the table.

There is no button to remove a single series. To drop one, click **Clear selections** and add back the series you want. Selections are not saved, so reloading the page returns to the three default series.

If a series you need is missing, message us through the in-app chat.

### 3. Set the Period

Choose **1M**, **3M**, **1Y**, **5Y** (the default) or **Max** in the top right of the chart card.

The period works in both directions. Historical series show that much history up to today, and forward curves show the same length of time from today onwards. With **5Y** selected, a swap rate shows the last five years and a forward curve the next five.

The y-axis is **Rates / yields (%)**. Hover over a line to read its value on a date.

***

### 4. Download

**Download** exports every series on the chart, over the selected period, to Excel. The sheet has one row per date and one column per series, formatted as percentages.

The button appears once the chart has data.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://www.bluegamma.io/documentation/market-data-guides/compare-and-chart.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
